Indian shooters took both of the highest podium finishes on offer 2022 Asian Windbreaker Championships on Friday to end the meeting in Daegu, South Korea with 25 of the 28 gold medals on offer.
on the last day Sangwan rhythm and Vijayveer Sidhu won a gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team Manu Bhaker and Samrat Rana finished first in the respective junior shooting competitions.
Rhythm Sangwan and Vijayveer Sidhu defeated Valeriy Rakhimzhan and Irina Yunusmetova of Kazakhstan 17-3 in the senior mixed teams final. Previously, this duo also took first place in the qualifiers with a score of 579, while the Kazakhs took second place with a score of 577.
Shiva Narwal and Yuvika Tomar, the other Indian team involved in the fight, also competed for medals after finishing fourth in the qualifying round with a score of 572. Against the Korean team of Bomi Kim and Daemyung Lee, Indian shooting the duo fell short of a 16–6 score to finish off the podium.
In the junior category, Tokyo Olympian and Junior World Champion Manu Bhaker teamed up with Samrat Rana and both scored 578 points in qualifying, just one less than top Uzbekistan.
Having faced the Uzbek team of Nigina Saidkulova and Mukhammad Kamalov in the final, the Indian duo emerged victorious 17-3.
As in the senior competition, the second pair from India, Sagar Dangi and Esha Singh, also won one of the two bronze medal matches after finishing third in the qualifiers with a score of 576.
However, both failed to overtake Korea’s Lee Seungjun and Yang Jiin, who won the medal match 16-14.
