The colorful uniforms of Japan, Ukraine, Korea, Great Britain and Great Britain, Canada and others seen around Lake Placid set the mood in the area as snow fell this morning and final preparations are underway for the start of the Lake Placid Placid 2023 FISU World University Games. Walking around the area, you can now notice the many athletes and activists who have already arrived in Lake Placid and the North Country. Delegations from many corners of the world, including Estonia, Australia, Mongolia, Poland, Brazil and Argentina, were among 25 of the expected 46 countries that arrived so far with members of their delegations. To date, 192 universities are represented among those who have received their credentials.
The competition will start on January 11 in Canton and Potsdam, when the women’s and men’s ice hockey preliminary games will begin. Hungary and Slovakia in men’s hockey will be the first FISU Games event in Lake Placid 2023. The Group B opener is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Cheel Arena in Potsdam at 1:00 p.m. local time. There will be two more matches in the men’s group, with Great Britain taking on the United States, also in Group B, while in Group A, Japan will face Latvia. In the women’s competition, Great Britain and the Czech Republic will face off, followed by Slovakia taking on the defending silver medalist Canada, both at Maxcy Hall, also in Potsdam.
The pageantry, energy and excitement of international sports are felt in a very special way when you watch them live. On the seats, viewers will see the talent, skills and passion of some of the world’s best student-athletes.

In the US, coverage will be available on ESPNU, ESPN and broadcast live ESPN+, and in Canada, subject to final schedule, TSN will have coverage on its broadcasting and streaming platforms.
