Sameer Vermaformer world No. 11, will headline the exhausted Indian contingent in Badminton Australian Open 2022 tournament following multiple withdrawals from the BWF Super 300 meeting in Sydney.

The 2022 Australian Open, scheduled from November 15 to 20 at the State Sports Centre, will be the final event of the 2022 BWF World Tour ahead of the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals in Guangzhou in December. Watch live broadcasts of matches.

Commonwealth Games Champions PV Sindhu, Laksa Sen and Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will miss the BWF Super 300 event. While PV Sindhu continues to recover from an ankle injury, Lakshya Sen will miss out due to a throat infection.

The doubles duo of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, who won the French Open title last month, are also sitting out at the tournament.

Kidambi Srikanththe former world number 1, was scheduled to play in the men’s bout in Sydney, but the world championship silver medalist pulled out of the tournament late on Monday.

Kidambi Srikanth, currently ranked 10th in the Race to Guangzhou, had to win the event to qualify for next month’s BWF World Tour finals in China. However, now that is no longer possible.

As it stands, only HS Prannoy and PV Sindhu Indian badminton players who qualified for the end of the season. However, Sindhu had already announced her withdrawal from the finals due to an ankle injury.

After four consecutive exits from the first round, Saina Nehwal he was also on the initial application list for the Sydney meeting, but like Srikanth withdrew late. Malwika Bansod he also joined the Olympic medalist on the list of late withdrawals.

Sameer Verma, along with Mithun Manjunath, will head the Indian men’s singles challenge, while Tanya Hemnath and Anwesha Gowda will fight in the women’s singles.
