Carlos Yulo will attend the SEA Games, skipping the Asian Games

Two-time world champion in gymnastics Carlos Yulo from the Philippines has announced at least some of its competitive plans for 2023.

The 22-year-old phenom will compete in May’s Southeast Asian Games, which are due to take place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, despite rules that will prevent the star from taking home more than two gold medals at the event.

In the 2021 edition, Yulo won five titles.

“He joins. We do it out of sporting spirit and for the sport we love,” said Cynthia Carrion Norton, president of the Philippine Gymnastics Association. philstar.com.

Yulo will have to miss the Asian Games due to a scheduling conflict. The Games, which are scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 8, coincide almost entirely with the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. The World Championships in Antwerp (September 30 to October 10) will be Yulo’s first chance to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
