Dear TAFISA members, colleagues and friends,

December has arrived and 2022 is coming to an end. Thank you for making 2022 so active and memorable. Thanks to your support, TAFISA has been able to prosper and develop in so many different directions.

The year 2022 brought the development of the Global Sport for All movement and once again showed that we are stronger together. Our member base has grown and our visibility has improved. We have built our successes on all continents by working with our members to continue our efforts in Europe and Asia and reach Africa, the Americas and Oceania, developing new partnerships with exciting projects and opportunities. We stay in touch with our members and partners through webinars, online meetings and virtual conferences as we continue our efforts to unify and connect the Global Sports for All Movement.

But most importantly, 2022 marked – finally – the return of Sport for All in-person events, after 2 tough years gone online due to Covid-19. I would like to congratulate and thank all our members for their tireless work to empower citizens and overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic. From TAFISA’s point of view, the 27th TAFISA World Congress in Portoroz, Slovenia successfully gathered more than 300 participants representing 173 organizations from 54 countries around the world under the theme “Sport for all in a changing world”. Our General Assembly has elected a new TAFISA Board of Directors. The second TAFISA European Sports Games was held in Perugia, Italy and successfully brought together many delegations from Europe and beyond to promote their traditional sports, games and culture. Finally, the ASFAA Congress, held in Busan, Korea, brought together the Asian members of ASFAA and TAFISA, where the Declaration of Going Netless Action was adopted. My sincere thanks go to the Hosts and Organizing Committees of these various events that have risen to the challenge.

I am incredibly proud and humbled to be part of the leadership team of such a great organization, I would like to thank current and former TAFISA board members for their commitment to volunteering and I am looking forward to what 2023 and the future will bring. The 28th TAFISA World Congress, which will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany from October 30 to November 5, will once again be a great opportunity to unite our Sport for All family.

On behalf of the TAFISA board and office team, I wish you all a happy, healthy and relaxing holiday season and I look forward to joining you next year on our mission to create a better world through sport for all.

Kind regards,
Wolfgang Baumann
president of TAFISA
