Mikaela Shiffrin it’s only one behind now Lindsey VonnThe FIS Alpine Ski World Cup breaks a women’s record.
The two-time Olympic champion won the first of two night slaloms at the Sljeme track in the Croatian capital Zagreb on Wednesday (January 4), taking her fifth consecutive World Cup victory and 81st overall.
If he triumphs again on Thursday, he will equal Vonn’s rating of 82 from just Ingemar Stenmark (86) in front of them.
In 10 races in Zagreb, he has seven podium finishes, including five wins.
The 27-year-old is in first place in the overall World Cup standings with 975 points, which is 409 points ahead of Petr Vlhova. Shiffrin (525) leads the slalom classification. Wendy Holden by 105 points.
This season, Shiffrin is fighting for her fifth overall title, which would put her second on the all-time winners list, behind Austria Annemarie Moser-Pröll which has six titles to its credit.
