Loh Kean Yew has started the badminton season well, but will be looking to improve his game again Open India 2023.
The Singaporean was eliminated from last week’s Malaysia Open after a grueling 80-minute quarter-final against Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
But while the three-match defeat was disappointing, 2021 world champion Loh showed great heart to return to the match and later admitted he had overcome “his own expectations and barriers”.
He will play at the India Open as the third seed as well as the world number 6 and face the fast-rising Japanese star Naraoka Kodai in the opening round.
If the Singaporean advances to the quarter-finals, he will likely face a fifth game against eighth-seeded Vitidsarn and a chance to avenge his loss at the Malaysia Open.
Danish Olympic and world champion Wiktor Axelsen he is the top seed in the opposite half of the tie to Loh.
