Less than 2 weeks left until the start of the 19thp ISF Gymnasiade Normandy 2022 taking place from 14p – 22n.d over 3,500 participants from 67 countries are preparing to come to Normandy, France, with 9 cities: Caen, Deauville, Forêt d’Ecouves, Grandville, Le Havre, Montivilliers, Pont-Audemer, Rouen and Val-de-Reuil to welcome students from around the world to compete in 20 different sports and engage in a variety of cultural and educational activities.
As with all ISF events, ISF Gymnasiade Normandy 2022 will focus beyond sports, taking the opportunity to develop and implement educational activities and programs throughout the event. These educational activities will be based on three pillars: Fun and Skills Zone, ISF Forum and ISF Seminars.
The Fun and Skills Zone will run from May 16 to 21 in the heart of the Games, at the Deauville International Center (CID). It will focus on learning the value of sport by discovering new sports and introductory activities offered at various stands located in the Fun and Skills Zone.
This will be the only time participants from all delegations will have the opportunity to meet others and interact outside of their sports competitions. This activity is prepared with ISF partners such as the International Fair Play Committee, United World Wrestling, Peak, Kinder Joy of Moving, Fédération Internationale de Teqball and Education First. Various stands will be dedicated to Olympic values, fair play, protecting children in sports, laser running, forward ball, hand mobility, wrestling and teqball.
Volis a release ISF forum will focus on main topic With “Healthy lifestyle: Meaning AND Rschool sport” and will take place on the 18th May at CID.
assembly young people, decision makers and sport leaders the forum will be an opportunity to exchange information about school sport and different points of view This intergovernmental organizations (Council of Europe, European Commission, Unesco, Confejes), international sports federations (FIBA, UWW, BWF…) and academia, to consider role of school sport When dealing with public policy, gender equality, child protection in sport, sustainable development or developing national policies.
This event is one of the few opportunities to discuss school sport in an international environment.
Finally, the seminars at the event will focus on two main themes. The first concerns the protection of children in sport and the second concerns officials (judges, referees…).
on 19p and 20p May from 18:00 to 20:00, ISF partners and leaders in their fields will conduct seminars for youth and adults on the first topic. The ISF’s commitment to this topic is based on the fact that: “We believe that all children have the right to play sports in an environment where they are safe and their voice is heard. What is officially registered for children should apply to every stakeholder (volunteer, member, employee, manager…) of our organization. We are focused on raising awareness of protection and ensuring the implementation of the ISF policy at the level of the playing field.”
A seminar on the second topic will take place on the 18thp May under the title “NO REF NO SPORT!” and is organized in partnership with the International Sports Federation, of which ISF is a founding member. Patrick Vajda, International Fencing Referee and President of the IFSO, and International Ice Hockey Referee Benjamin Gremion will share their experiences of sports refereeing at the highest level for 90 minutes. They will explain how to deal with mistakes, stress and disputes encountered while judging. These two very experienced sports referees will also answer questions and show that despite their very different sporting origins, the questions they ask each other during practice are often almost identical.
We are sure that many young officials in charge of this event will be extremely interested in the information provided during this action.
