TAFISA’s Board of Directors appointed Jorge de Carvalho “TAFISA Special Advisor for the Portuguese-speaking world”.
With this nomination, TAFISA recognizes Jorge de Carvalho’s impressive work and experience in the field of sport for all and physical activity, and his extensive knowledge and understanding of the Sport for All movement and the Portuguese-speaking world.
The Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) is a space united by the common use of the Portuguese language, consisting of more than 300 million people in four continents: Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique and São Tomé and Principe (region of Africa), Timor East (Oceania/South Pacific), Brazil (America) and Portugal (Europe).
Jorge de Carvalho, former director of the Sports Department of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, IP (IPDJ, IP) played an active role as the representative of Portugal from 2012 to 2022, attending general assemblies and congresses of TAFISA, World and European Sport for All Games, Committee Steering TAFISA Europe, Certified Leadership Courses, participation in Erasmus+ Sports Projects and many others.
At the 27th TAFISA World Congress 2022 in Portoroz, he was awarded the TAFISA “Friends for Life” award.
Jorge de Carvalho is currently:
- Sports Coordinator at the Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports (CMJD) of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
- Human Resources Trainer in Special Education and Rehabilitation, Disabled and Paralympic Sports in Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe from 1983 to date.
Jorge de Carvalho’s extensive works have been published nationally and internationally in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Mandarin.
