Khelo India 2023 Youth Gamesthe fifth edition of the flagship event under the Indian government Khela India initiative, concluded on February 11, 2023.

A total of 11 venues in eight cities in Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi hosted various events KIYG 2023 events. More than 5,000 athletes representing 36 states and territories of the Union of India competed for 973 medals – 295 gold, 295 silver and 383 bronze – in 27 sports at the Khelo India 2023 Youth Games.

Maharashtra won the title of Khelo India Youth Games 2023 after winning 56 gold, 55 silver and 50 bronze medals. The last edition’s champions, Haryana, finished second with 41 gold, 32 silver and 55 bronze.

The scale of the Khelo India Youth Games has increased compared to last year, with fencing and water sports (canoeing, slalom and slalom) added to the list of 25 sports from the previous edition.

The Khelo India Youth Games are structured much like a team championship, with the medals won by each athlete or team counting towards the medals of that particular Union state or territory. At the end of the competition, the state or UT with the most gold medals is declared the winner.

Haryana was ranked first in the medal table of the Khelo India Youth Games in the inaugural edition in 2018, then called Khelo India School Games, but Maharashtra won the KIYG title in 2019 and 2020.

In this edition, hosts Madhya Pradesh fielded the largest contingent (474 ??athletes) and the fans came third with 39 gold, 30 silver and 27 bronze medals.
