Korfball Federation of India Secretary General Mr. K. K. Verma, Treasurer and founder of Korfball sport in India Mr. Ashok Kumar, international player Mr. Dev Balhara met the Minister of Your Affairs and Sports Sh. Kiren Rijiju at his office in New Delhi.
The Korfball federation officials congratulated the Sports Mr. Sh. Kiren Rijiju for his new role and discussed regarding Korfball sport in India in detail. The Sports Minister took a keen interest in the Korfball sport and assured support for the promotion and development through the ministry.
He appreciated the fact that Korfball is the only sport that promotes gender equality. He assured that Korfball will soon be recognized by the ministry enabling the players to have all-round facilities.
Here it is important to mention that Mr. Rijiju has good knowledge of sports and international Olympics. Instead of typical, office work, he believes in the working and improvement at the ground level.
Sports Minister surprised athletes
Yesterday morning his sudden visit at Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium surprised athletes at a jog. He had a conversation with athletes and coaches of various disciplines and asked for suggestions to improve sports culture and infrastructure in India.
He had breakfast with athletes at the stadium at JLN stadium, veteran archer Limba Ram and Olympian hockey player M P Ramesh were also present ar breakfast and they shared their experiences and stories with the minister.
