Manish Kaushikbronze medalist of the 2019 world championships, Mohammad Hussamuddin2022 Asian Championship bronze medalist and 2018 Commonwealth Games champion Gaurav Solanka advanced to the quarter-finals Polish Men’s Boxing Championships 2022 in Hisar on Tuesday.
Against Sandeep Doni, 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medalist Manish Kaushik (63.5 kg) had full control before the referee stopped the fight (RSC) in the second round. The Indian boxer he will face the winner of the bout between Rohit Ningehougan Singh of Manipur and Neeraj Kumar Singh of Jharkhand in the final eight.
Two-time CWG bronze medalist Mohammad Hussamuddin (57 kg) defeated Lallawmawma from Mizoram by unanimous decision. He will face Manish Rathod of Uttar Pradesh in the quarter-finals.
Gaurav Solanki (60 kg) from Haryana beat Harendra Singh from Madhya Pradesh 5-0 in his round of 16 bout to advance to the quarter-finals.
2022 Asian Championships bronze medalist Govind Sahani (48 kg), representing the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), defeated Mansingh of Jammu and Kashmir via unanimous decision to start his quarter-final bout with Heli Tana Tara of Arunachal Pradesh.
Sahani’s RSPB teammate Varinder Singh (60kg) defeated SSCB’s Ibrahim Mohmed in a similar fashion to secure a place in the quarter-finals. The bronze medalist of the 2021 Asian Championships will face Gaurav Solanki in the ring in the fight for the quarterfinals.
The 2021 Asian Youth Champion Biswamitra Chongtham (51 kg) defeated Prabhudas Yadla of Andhra Pradesh by unanimous decision to face Yogesh of Haryana in the quarter-finals.
A total of 386 boxers from 13 different weight classes compete in the 2022 Men’s National Boxing Championships.
All quarter-final matches will be played on Wednesday.
