The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, Thomas Bach awarded the first Gold medal to Sweden’s Charlotte Kalla  for Skiathlon at the Winter Olympic Games, Pyeongchang 2018 at the Medals Plaza on Saturday night.

Charlotte Kalla of Sweden sailed through to her third Olympic Gold medal in the women’s Skiathlon.  She is followed by Marit Bjorgen (NOR) who is most enterprising female Winter Olympian of all times.  Krista Parmakoski (FIN) settled for Bronze.

The Medal Plaza was swarmed by cheers of ecstatic spectators as the winning ladies received the medals from the IOC President.

Just before the prestigious award ceremony, the audience got to experience soulful concert.

This was followed by ceremonious R&B vocalist Insooni’s performance.  The Voice of the Olympic Torch Relay song ‘Let Everyone Shine’ was performed for a mesmerizing 40 minutes.

‘Superstore’ at the stadium gives access to Winter Olympic fans to not only witness first hand medal awarding ceremony, but also to buy souvenirs.  The fans can purchase the official cauldron and try the virtual reality technology.

‘Traditional Culture Pavilion’ is another longue for the fans to learn more about the traditional Korean arts and performing arts forms.  Information Communication Technology used at its best, the Culture ICT Hall keeps playing modern art, most advanced developments in different fields, 5G technology and Artificial intelligence.

Another interesting gallery is the calendar of events of musical and art performances at the Medal Plaza to facilitate the fans to choose from an array of planned programs.  Pyeongchang organizing committee has very innovatively made arrangements for a selfie snap at the official logo of the Olympics, the five circles of national flagpoles.

A ‘Spectators’ Cafeteria’ is for in between munching and bites; and an area is devoted for ‘Partner Showcasing’ to help business enthusiasts meet professionals from the sporting industry.
