American gymnast Gabby Douglas she is one of the few American gymnasts to have ever competed back-to-back in the Olympics, and with Ali Raismanone of two to win two team gold medals in consecutive Games.
Douglas is also the first African American to win an Olympic all-around title, as well as the first U.S. team gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team events at the same Games.
