Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is one of the newest members of the ISF who also took part in Gymnasiade 2018 in Morocco.
The main school sports organization in the country is the School and University Sports Office of Ivory Coast (OISSU), whose Director General Kone Mamadou Souleymane is also a member of the ISF Executive Committee.
When asked what is the role of school sport in Côte d’Ivoire, representatives of OISSU replied that their main goal is the participation and promotion of sport for all (for the masses).

It also serves as a talent pool for elite sports, contributes to youth peace and social development, and most importantly, keeps students healthy and away from inappropriate behaviors such as drug and alcohol abuse, school dropout and early pregnancy.
OISSU believes that school sport brings youth and people of all ages together and fosters mutual understanding among youth.
At the national level, OISSU aims to continue the formalization and autonomy of the school and university sports movement by strengthening the abilities of actors.
It also puts emphasis on strengthening cooperation with partners from the education and training sector (Ministry of Education, Health, Culture, etc.) and accelerates the reconstruction of school sports infrastructure and school equipment. The search for private partners to support the financing of competitions and school sports is a continuous process.
At the international level, OISSU aims to raise the profile and position of Côte d’Ivoire at sub-regional and continental levels by strengthening cooperation with the structures responsible for school sports and presence and activity in international organizations such as ISF and FISU and its competitions.
Recent OISSU events include participation in the 11th edition of the Youth Officials Challenge organized by the National Union of School Sport (UNSS) in Troyes, France on June 13-15.
They also organized national finals of 8 zones in April and May 2018, attended by over 5,000 athletes and caregivers and 25,000 spectators. OISSU also attended the meeting of the ISF General Assembly and Executive Committee in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In the near future, OISSU will organize:
