March 03, 2023 | in the Young Reporters Program
As with the winter edition of the FISU World University Games held earlier this year in Lake Placid (USA), the summer edition of the FISU Games in Chengdu (China, July 28 – August 8, 2023) will feature FISU-AIPS Young Reporters . .
For this event, seven international applicants will be selected by FISU and the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) and added to the existing pool of Young Reporters (YR).
For its part, the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games Organizing Committee will select 12 national Young Reporters.
Upon arrival, a few days before the Opening Ceremony, national and international Young Reporters will participate in a variety of cultural events, in line with the Young Reporters Program’s goal to encourage mixing and interaction between national and international YRs.
Successful international candidates will benefit from the training of two high-level mentors who will assign them tasks based on the daily agenda. In the first week of the games, they will also take part in morning lectures by experienced professionals.
Their reporting work will cover a wide range of media and communications related aspects to give them a broad experience. FISU.tv, fisu.net and FISU’s social media platforms will be used to publish most of their work during the Games.
In line with FISU’s new communication strategy, which is increasingly focusing on digital media, we strongly encourage applicants studying digital media to apply. The skills we’re ultimately looking for include: creating content for entertaining social media (mainly FB, Instagram and TikTok), basic video editing skills (social media oriented video editing, reels, dynamic cuts, captions and subtitles, etc.), interview skills (including television), journalistic and storytelling skills, the ability to search and/or find good articles. Photography skills will be an added advantage.
The Young Reporters Program implements the policy of gender equality by selecting the same number of women and men for this edition.
