The election of the new Executive Committee will be one of the highlights of this year’s International World Games Association (IWGA) General Assembly. Representatives from the 39 member associations will elect the leadership for the term until 2026 on May 3, 2023 in Madrid, Spain. The IWGA informed the member federations of the list of candidates and submitted it for publication.
Jose Perurena runs to himself IWGA presidency. Honorary President for Life of the International Canoe Federation, he has headed the IWGA since 2014 and is running for a third term at its head.
Tom Dielen (Secretary General of World Archery) i Jörn Verleger (President, International Fistball Association) are running for election as vice president.
The only candidate for Treasurer is the incumbent (since 2001) Luke Hinder (Honorary Life President of the World DanceSport Federation).
For the remaining four places on Executive Committeefollowing stand for election:

Volker Bernardi (Secretary General of the World Flying Disc Federation – Member of the Board since 2018)

Retiring from the Executive Committee at the end of the 2018-2023 term are:
Max Bishop as Vice President (World Air Sports Federation) and Antonio Espinos (World Karate Federation).
The term of office of new members of the Management Board is three years. The new elections will be held at AGM 2026, one year after The World Games 2025 in Chengdu (People’s Republic of China). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the term of office, which began in 2018, was extended by one year to 2023 (a year after The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, USA).
World games is a multi-sport event organized every four years by the International World Games Association, organized with the support of the International Olympic Committee. The 2022 World Games took place in Birmingham, Alabama, USA from July 7-17, 2022. 3,600 athletes from 34 sports and 100 countries participated in the games. The 12th edition of The World Games will be held in Chengdu, CHN in 2025.
