On December 21, the 16th General Assembly of the ASSF and the 22nd meeting of the ASSF 2022 Technical Committee took place online. More than 40 representatives from 23 countries and regions, including Brunei; China; Hong Kong, China; India; Indonesia; Iran; Kazakhstan; Kuwait; Lebanon; Macau, China; Malaysia; Mongolia; Nepal; Oman; Runny nose; Singapore; Sri Lanka; Thailand; Turkmenistan; Vietnam; Jordan; The meeting was attended by France and Croatia. ISF President Laurent Petrynka and ISF Secretary General Hrvoje Custonja were invited to the meeting and presented ISF’s latest activities and plans for the future.
Dr. LIU Lixin, Secretary General of the Joint Secretariat of the Student Sports Association of the Ministry of Education, Vice President of the China School Sports Federation (hereinafter “FSSC”) attended the meeting as President of the Asian School Sports Federation (hereinafter “ASSF”); The meeting was attended by Mr. ZHANG Ailong, Deputy Secretary General of the Joint Secretariat of the Student Sports Association of the Ministry of Education, Vice President of the ISF, member of the FSSC Standing Committee.
Mr. Laurent Petrynka highly appreciated the ASSF’s great contribution to the development of ISF, highlighted the leading and exemplary role in the development of continental school sports federations, and called for more Asian countries and regions to join the ISF family and participate in ISF events.
Mr. Hrvoje Custonja presented the ISF events over the past year, shared the ISF Calendar for 2023-2028 and briefly introduced the ISF Academy. Hrvoje drew attention to the upcoming ISF Winter Gymnasiade, ISF U15 Gymnasiade 2023 and World Championships, warmly inviting Asian members to participate in the Games. In addition, Hrvoje invited Asian members to organize ISF events and increase ISF activity in Asia.
Dr. LIU Lixin fully acknowledged the active participation of Asian members in various ISF events, and urged more Asian countries and regions to join ASSF and ISF, providing Asian solutions and contributing to the flourishing of school sports. LIU also revealed the work plan after China won the right to host three more ISF World Cups in 2024, 2026 and 2028, expressed that China will work with ASSF, ASFF and ISF to transform the FIFA World Cup ISF football in a branded event.
During a short but fruitful virtual conference, participants shared the development of school sports in member countries and regions, discussed relevant work reports, formulated a calendar for 2023 and beyond, approved Jordan’s membership affiliation and discussed the ASSF’s strategic development plan. Everyone is striving to create a better future for school sports.
