FISU and its partners met for the second time as part of the Erasmus+ program “Cycling, Campus & City” on June 29-30, hosted by lecturers from the campuses of the University of Turin in Italy.
FISU joined its partners as the University of Turin hosted a series of meetings related to the progress of the 3Cs Erasmus+ project, aimed at identifying, strengthening and promoting active mobility of campus communities.
The meetings were held at two major campuses of the University of Turin: the “Luigi Einaudi” campus and the Palazzo del Rettorato (Rectorate Palace) – which is also the seat of the University of Turin, which has been part of the Turin campus since 1700.
The meetings started in the heart of the “Luigi Einaudi” campus of the University of Turin, followed by a tour led by students of the University of Turin. As one of the city’s many campus buildings, the Luigi Einaudi Campus has been carefully designed to mirror the design of Turin’s streets, with the addition of green spaces and a bicycle/pedestrian footbridge to promote active mobility and well-being on campus.
The project partners met to identify methods for collecting data on students’ habits on campus to assess the type of transport/mobility they choose, their activity habits and overall campus lifestyle through a survey that will be sent to students later in 2023. Following the data collected, an evaluation of the results will be carried out to create a toolkit and promote educational content for active mobility and behavior change in campus communities while advocating for sustainable mobility.
A 3C manual will also be created to support the toolkit with a series of educational materials that will be publicly available on the project’s official website, with the final design expected to be completed in 2025.
