World Arm Wrestling recommended for full GAISF member

The World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) could become full member of Global Association of International Sports Federations –GAISF (previously known as SPORT ACCORD). The GAISF council meeting held at GAISF headquarter at Lausanne, Switzerland recommended WAF for full membership. The voting will take place in General Assembly of GAISF to be held in April 2018 at Bangkok, the venue of Sport Accord Convention.

The World Armwrestling Federation is headed by President Assen Hadjitodorov and was formed in 1977. The next World Armwrestling Championship will be held in Antalya, Turkey in late 2018.

WAF was the first International Federation granted Observer status by GAISF last year October 2017 and it would be the first International Federation IF completing the full membership criteria.

Voting for World Union of Olympic Cities will also take place for GAISF Associate Membership.

Two other organisations Rugby League International Federation –RFIL (headed by Nigel Wood) and International Padel Federation – FIP headed by Daniel Patti approved for GAISF Observer status.

RLIF and FIB are the eighth and ninth to be approved for observer status. Previously GAISF approved six International Federations Ifs for Observer Status are International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF), International Pole Sports Federation (IPSF), International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP), International Union of KettleBell Lifting (IUKL), Federation of International Foot Golf (FIFG), World DodgeBall Association (WDA) and World ArmWrestling Federation.

All the GAISF Observer status Ifs have to go through rigorous process of assessment and verification for full membership status. Observer status is for two years to complete all full membership criteria. These members are allowed to attend General Assembly but without voting right and they are allowed to take part in all GAISF activities.

Patrick Baumann, President of GAISF said:

The Council’s decision to recommend WAF for Full Membership is an important milestone for GAISF as they would become the first IF to complete the journey from Observer to Member.

“It is concrete evidence that the pathway established through the hard work of our Membership Commission, chaired by Mr. Antonio Espinos along with Vice Presidents Dr. Raffaele Chiulli (President of ARISF) and Mr. Stephan Fox (President of AIMS), can be followed by determined IFs and that it works well for both the Federation and GAISF’s entire membership.”
